When viewing homes, it’s easy to get excited. But
showing your enthusiasm to the seller may hurt you
in the negotiating process. Avoid phrases like “I love
the _____” or “This is exactly what we need.” If a
seller feels you can’t live without it, they may be less
inclined to work on the price.
The opposite is also true. If you’re too negative
about the Seller’s home, they may get insulted. If
you hurt a seller’s pride, they also may be less likely
to work with you on the sale.
Instead, view homes objectively. Be open an
honest, but not emotional. Write down your likes
and dislikes and discuss them in detail among
yourselves, and not in front of the seller.
By wearing your poker face, you’ll avoid problems
with negotiations and have a better chance at
getting a good deal.
