Successful offers usually come from Buyers who
have familiarized themselves with the Sellers’
wants and needs.
Protect your interests first and then try to
make an offer that’s more appealing than any
other offer a Seller will likely receive. Put
yourself in the Seller’s position. “What would
I want if I were the Seller?”
Furthermore, since only written real estate
related agreements are enforceable, make sure
every detail, every promise, and everything else
involving the deal is in writing and signed by
all parties.
Even when dealing with family and friends, this
practice will help protect you from loosing
money to forgetful, dishonest, or mind changing
people.
Also, be prepared to handle counter offers. A
seller may like certain parts of your offer, but
may change a few things and counter with a
modified offer.
Going back and forth in writing is common
practice. You may need to do this several times
before coming to an agreement.
