The trust of our customers is our most precious asset.  Protecting your privacy and safeguarding your personal and financial information is one of our highest priorities.  The following Privacy Statement explains how Door In Real Estate collects and protects your information. If you have any questions that this statement does not address, please contact Door In Real Estate via e-mail or telephone.  By registering with Door In Real Estate or by using Door In Real Estate’s web-site and services, you give your consent to the collection and use of personal information by Door In Real Estate as explained in this statement. Any dispute over our Privacy Statement is subject to this notice, our Buyer’s Agreement, our Seller’s Agreement, and any other agreement you may enter into with Door In Real Estate, including arbitration of disputes and limitation of damages.

Why do we gather information?

There are several very important purposes which all relate to providing you the optimum buying and selling experience.  We collect information required to register on the web site, to transact business effectively and to safeguard your assets and your privacy.  We also continually strive to improve our services and provide you opportunities to use additional products and services you may find of interest.  To do this, we gather information to help us assess your needs and preferences.  This includes conducting surveys that ask you to provide demographic information and other means to aid us in anticipating your needs and satisfying your requests. 

What is personal information?

The information we collect from you includes, among other things, information required to communicate with you, including your full name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, fax number; and to identify who you are, including Social Security number, driver’s license information including a photo copy of your driver’s license; employer name and address.  We also collect demographic information when you register through our web site or request information on our products, including gender, birth date, occupation, etc.  Other personal information includes transaction history, user name, password, secret question and answer, financial information such as credit card and bank account information, site preferences, complaints, questions and information submitted to us either in person, by phone, by e-mail or by entry on our web site, web site behavior such as pages visited or searches requested, Browser information such as browser version, connection speed, IP address and the presence of various related plug-ins and tools such as PDF document readers and media players.

 When and how do we collect personal information?

You directly and voluntarily provide to us the majority of information we collect.  You do this by completing the registration application and related documentation, requesting we prepare an offer, listing a property, filling out and signing purchase contracts and other various forms related to a purchase, closing on a deal, sending us an e-mail for questions or comment or submitting information in response to our request for such information.  Other ways we obtain information are by (a) observing your usage of the web site, (b) providing products and services to you, and (c) through other sources such as credit agencies, alliances, and business partners.  This information enables us to effectively coordinate and transact business effectively as well as offer you products and services that may be of interest to you.

How do we use your personal information?

We use personal information only as appropriate to effectively coordinate and close a transaction as well as to provide you quality service and security.  For example, Door In Real Estate may use the information collected from you to verify your identity and contact information.  We may also use this information to establish and set up your user’s section on our web site, issue a user name and a secure password, maintain your online folders, records, and transaction history, and contact you with transaction information, questions, and other requests.  This information helps us transact business effectively, improve our services to you, customize your browsing experience and inform you about additional products, services or promotions that may be of interest to you.  We may also use demographic information on our customers provided by others so that we can effectively coordinate and close a transaction, and to develop products and services for our customers.  Should you close a transaction or otherwise cancel any services with us, Door In Real Estate will retain your information, but only use it to comply with regulatory requirements and to periodically contact you with valuable offers and promotions.

 How long will you keep my personal information?

Florida law mandates that we keep certain transaction information for a minimum of five years plus two years after the conclusion of any litigation.  To satisfy our legal obligations, Door In Real Estate will keep your personal information for a minimum of the required amount of time, but may keep this information indefinitely.

 What information will you share with a seller when I submit an offer?

We will only share personal information needed to effect a sale.  You will authorize us to provide most information we submit to a seller in the form of your signature on any offer, disclosure or other document needed to proceed with a transaction we present on your behalf.  In addition, we will provide any additional documentation required to complete a transaction including a pre-approval letter from a lender to show your credit worthiness.  We will not provide any sensitive information such as social security numbers, account numbers, and user name and password without your consent.

 What information will you share with buyers when I submit a listing?

We will only share personal information needed to affect a sale.  You will authorize us to provide most information we submit to a buyer by signing and filling out any document required to provide a buyer with information such as a purchase contract, a seller’s disclosure, and any other disclosure or document.  We will not provide any sensitive information such as social security numbers, account numbers, and user name and password without your consent.

 Does Door In Real Estate use “cookies” or any other tracking devises?

We use cookies to make your use of our web site more convenient and to support our internal business purposes.  A cookie is a piece of information that is transferred to a User’s hard drive for record-keeping purposes.  For example, Door In Real Estate uses cookies to remember your user name so that you will not have to re-enter this information each time you visit our web site.  Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but you can set up your browser to alert you every time a cookie is offered, letting you decide whether or not to accept it.  What information does Door In Real Estate share with alliances and partners?

Door In Real Estate forges partnerships and alliances with companies who offer high quality products and services such as various loan programs, title services, inspections, and appraisals.  Door In Real Estate may share information with alliances and partners if the information is required to effectively coordinate and close a deal, provide the product or service you have requested, or to provide you the opportunity to participate in the products or services our partners or alliances offer.  In order to ensure that these products and services meet your needs and are delivered in a manner that is useful and relevant, Door In Real Estate may share all relevant personal information with partners and alliances.  This allows them to better understand the offers that are most relevant and useful.  The use of your personal information is limited to the purposes identified in our relationship with the partner or alliance.  Types of information we share with alliances and partners are name, e-mail address, mailing address, date of birth, employment status, and general account and demographic information as well as certain sensitive information such as social security numbers.  Sensitive information will only be shared when we deem it necessary for a third party to use such information.  For example, we may give your social security number to a lender to run a credit check.  Examples of partners and alliances may be financial or non-financial companies, such as banks, lenders, mortgage brokers, inspection companies, appraisal companies, title companies, and other real estate related entities.

Door In Real Estate does not sell, license, lease or otherwise disclose your personal information to any third party for any reason, except as described in this Privacy Policy.  To help us improve our services to you, we may from time to time engage other businesses to help us to carry out certain internal functions such as account processing, fulfillment, customer service, customer satisfaction surveys or other data collection activities relevant to our business.  We may also provide such parties with customer information from our database to help us to analyze and identify customer needs and notify customers of product and service offerings.  Use of the information shared is strictly limited to the performance of the task we request and for no other purpose.

 Periodically, we may invite you to participate in advertisements, promotions and special offers offered by Door In Real Estate or by other sponsoring organizations.  These could include lenders, title companies and other real estate service providers. Door In Real Estate takes reasonable measures to protect the personal information it collects, uses, stores or discloses.  We have implemented physical, technological and organizational procedures designed to protect the integrity and security, and to ensure the appropriate use, of your personal information.  These procedures are appropriate to the nature, sensitivity and format of the personal information collected, used, stored or disclosed by Door In Real Estate.  For example, Door In Real Estate uses Secure Sockets Layering (SSL) to encrypt your personal information including your credit card or check card number, before it travels over the Internet.  SSL technology is the industry standard for secure online transactions.

 Does our Privacy Statement apply to the web sites to which we link?

No. We are not responsible for the privacy policies or the content of web sites we link to and have no control of the use or protection of information provided by you or collected by those sites.  Whenever you elect to visit a linked web site, you may be asked to provide registration or other information.  Please note that the information you are providing is going to a third party.  You should familiarize yourself with the privacy policy provided by that third party prior to providing them with any personal information.

 How can I access, change or correct my personal information?
